Sales history, exceptions & tax policy

Admin has three separate Sale views. All three read under sales.read; appending a tax-policy version additionally needs sales.tax_policy.manage, and refunds/returns need sales.refund:

  • Sales history — read bounded Sale, line, Invoice, Payment and return history for an authorised Store. With sales.refund, it is also the fallback for a closed Sale when the manager cannot use the store POS: refund a service line, accept a retail return, refund a voucher or package purchase, or reverse a voucher, package or coupon redemption. Each action needs a reason, the accountable employee, and that employee's PIN. POS remains the normal place for these actions. A successful fallback is stored as a high-severity audit in the administrator's name and marked as an Admin action.
  • Sale exceptions — review provider-unknown or operational cases. A case is not proof that a refund or payment succeeded.
  • Product tax policy — append a dated Store/product policy version used by future line-specific Invoices.

Tax policy versions and historical Sale facts are never edited in place. Changing today's policy does not reinterpret an old Invoice. Refunds and returns use the original Sale line, Invoice and Payment allocations; uncertain provider outcomes stay in human review.

GST classes and mixed supply

Each catalog item is classified as Taxable, GST-free, Input taxed or (vouchers only) Division 100 face-value voucher. The system never guesses a class: an authorised finance administrator records it with a change reason, and a Sale line whose product has no effective classification is refused at checkout before any Invoice is written.

A single Sale may mix classes. Every active line still becomes its own Invoice with its own frozen class; GST is charged only on Taxable lines. The Sale detail in Sales history shows the GST split by class and the GST total, and each Invoice line shows its class. The GST rounding rule (total invoice or taxable supply) comes from Financial policy.

Whether a particular service or product belongs in a class is an accounting question. Nothing on this page is tax advice and the classification set has not been validated by an accountant.

Online payment, PayID/PayTo, provider refund execution and accounting/legal judgement are not activated by these pages.
